Dr. Maria Amaro
Dr. Amaro was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in New York. She completed both her undergraduate studies and veterinary schooling at Cornell University in New York. After graduation, she participated in a small animal medicine and surgical internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary College. Dr. Amaro has been an owner of Community Animal Hospital since January 1997. Her special interests include management of endocrine diseases, arthritis care, and internal medicine. Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, SCUBA diving, and outdoor activities.
Dr. Robert Orr
Dr. Orr was born and raised in Willmar, Minnesota. He earned his BS in Biology in 1988 and completed his DVM in 1993—both at the University of Minnesota. He began his career in a dairy mixed animal practice in Cold Spring, Minnesota, before moving to Los Lunas, New Mexico for a short time in a small animal and equine practice. In 1997, he and his wife Maria (Dr. Amaro) purchased Community Animal Hospital and expanded it into a thriving companion animal and equine practice. His interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, reptile medicine, and equine reproductive management. Dr. Orr is a member of the Little Falls Exchange Club, Crane Meadows National Refuge, and the Masons. His hobbies include golf, woodworking, hiking, horseback riding, and SCUBA diving.
Melinda Dickinson, CVT
Hi, I’m Melinda! I’ve been a member of the staff since 2005. I grew up in Swanville, Minnesota, and have had a passion for animals my whole life. I earned my Veterinary Technology degree from Ridgewater College in 2004 and have loved caring for your pets ever since. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, riding horses, and gardening. At home, I’m a proud pet parent to a wonderful mix of dogs, cats, and horses.
Brooklyn Giese, CVT
Hello, my name is Brooklyn. I grew up in the Holdingford area and joined the staff in 2025. I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and earned my AAS degree in Veterinary Technology from Ridgewater College in 2024. When I’m not at the clinic, you’ll likely find me camping with family and friends. At home, I stay busy with my five dogs and my goat.
Natalie Pallansch, CVT
Hi, I’m Natalie! I joined the staff in 2018 and enjoy both sides of the veterinary field, working in small animal and equine care. I earned my AAS degree in Veterinary Technology in 2008 and have been working in small animal practice ever since. I live in Royalton on a small acreage with my husband, three daughters, three horses, and my Great Dane, Gruff. When I’m not at work, I enjoy camping with my family and relaxing at home.
Brenna Schwab, Veterinary Assistant
Hello, my name is Brenna. I joined the staff in 2021 and am a dedicated Veterinary Assistant with a passion for compassionate animal care. I’m committed to clear communication and making every pet feel safe and comfortable. Originally from Wisconsin, when I’m not at the hospital, you can find me fishing or spending quality time with my dogs.
Kiersten Vogt, Veterinary Assistant
Hello, I’m Kiersten! I joined Community Animal Hospital in 2025 and proudly jump in wherever I’m needed to keep things running smoothly and ensure every pet receives top-notch care. I’ve always had a deep love for animals of all kinds. When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy video games, board games, fishing, mini golf, escape rooms, and walking my dogs. I’m excited to be part of such a compassionate team.
Kayla Ritter, Receptionist
I’ve been blessed to be a receptionist at Community Animal Hospital since 2022. Every day brings something new and exciting, and I love being part of the positive impact we make on both pets and their owners. Working with animals has been my dream since childhood. In my free time, I enjoy horseback riding, fishing, outdoor adventures with my husband and daughter, crafting, and spending time with our many animals—including dogs, cats, chickens, and pigs.

Hi, I’m Caroline! I love getting to know all the pets and their people here at the clinic. I share my home with my husband and our two dogs who keep me busy and smiling every day. When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me walking, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with my pups.
